Herons are beautiful, elegant birds that are often portrayed in Japanese art. In poetry they are associated with the cold of winter. They stand motionless for a long time, patience is their virtue. 

Used fish scale pattern to build up the torso of the bird created in Illustrator. Placed ginkgo leaves in the background because their fan shape complements the heron graceful silhouette.
