Concrete Poem

Concrete poem is a verse that emphasizes nonlinguistic elements in its meaning, such as a typeface that creates a visual image of the topic (Poetry Foundation, N.D.). Concrete poetry was named by artists inspired by Dadaism and Futurism who had a renewed interest in typography in the 1950s. My poem is based on a quote from Wassily Kandinsky, a painter and mentor in the Bauhaus movement. For him, circles represent ideas around progress, regeneration and renewal. His fascination with circles is shown in a series of ten paintings from 1923 to 1929.

"The circle is the synthesis of the greatest oppositions. It combines the concentric and the eccentric in a single form and in equilibrium. Of the three primary forms, it points most clearly to the fourth dimension."
